CONDENSATE LEAKAGE |
This condensate leakage was the result of an issue with a high efficiency
furnace that is located in the attic of this new home. High efficiency
furnaces create moisture (condensation). |
<
The condensation from the furnace was leaking out of the controlled
discharge system. As a safeguard, high efficiency furnaces typically have
drip pans and emergency shut off switches to prevent damage to the home from
uncontrolled condensate leakage.

The builder of this $1.5M home had improperly located the drip pan and
refused to make the proper correction. Portable fans were placed in the
attic to help dry out the moisture damaged drywall and the drip pan location
was not corrected.
